WILL BURDETT WINS 1ST PLACE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BATH POSTER COMPETITION
2nd April 2019
Each year the University of Bath holds a competition where students who have returned from their placement year create a poster illustrating their achievements from their year in industry. At the end of last year Will Burdett, who undertook his placement in the Advanced Engines team between 2017-2018, won 1st prize in the Engineering department placement poster competition.
Will’s poster focused on the Gasoline Particulate Filters (GPF’s) air feed study. For those who are unfamiliar with GPF’s, they are an emission after treatment technology based on diesel particulate filters, developed to control particulate emissions from gasoline direct injection engines. They collect particulate matter, mainly soot and ash, from the exhaust gases of petrol engines, which is then burned out of the filter under normal driving conditions. The population of Gasoline Direct Injection vehicles has been increasing, driven by CO2 and/or fuel economy requirements.
Will’s winning design will now be displayed around the Engineering department at the university.
